BBC The Rapture fans distracted by 'unbelievable' plot in dramatic conclusion

It wasn’t long before BBC viewers were issuing the same complaint as the watched the final episode of the broadcaster’s latest thriller, The Rapture. Featuring the likes of India Amarteifio and Ruth Madeley, the pair starred in the five-part drama as Gabs and Bethany.
Bethany is a 17-year-old who is in a psychiatric ward following the death of her mother, whom she’s been accused of killing. However, she’s constantly proclaimed her innocence to everyone, with none believing her. As Gabs, a psychologist dealing with her own drama, is called in to help assess Bethany, she quickly learns there’s more to this teen as she claims to possess psychic abilities.

Begging Gabs to try and help her prove she didn’t kill her mother, the pair work together to discover who the real culprit is.
In an unexpected twist, fans learned that the person responsible for her mum’s murder was a man called Rob (Morgan Watkins), who was a member of the Climate First group.
It was revealed that Rob worked for Trenmoor oil company chief, Max Leland (Stephen Campbell Moore), who was involved in shady dealings and undermined environmental campaigners to protect his oil drilling operations.
However, viewers were distracted by one glaring ‘error’ they noticed. As the show was set during a fictional apocalyptic heatwave, with temperatures reaching 40°C, people noticed the actors wearing warm clothes..

Online, one person wrote: “Watching #TheRapture , it’s meant to be around 38 °C in this drama, and people are wearing long sleeve tops, jeans and hoodies!”
Someone else commented: “The place is roasting hot, but no one looks bothered.” Another person highlighted how the clothing looked ‘a little too warm’ for the temperatures in the show.
While a fourth added that the show has people outside with green grass while they have sun in every room, sharing that currently, where they are in the world, it’s 36 degrees and people are staying inside in dark rooms to keep cool.”

However, some were thrilled with the show as one person commented: “Finished #TheRapture and thought the entire series was incredibly captivating. The writing and performances were so compelling that they felt true and authentic. Incredible that the book was written years ago, as the story felt incredibly relevant, which added to its poignancy.”
