According to multiple media reports, The Price Is Right contestant Melissa Gordon narrowly avoided going over on her Showcase bid, finishing just $363 below the actual retail price to win a brand-new car and thousands of dollars in prizes. Even Drew Carey admitted she came incredibly close to an even bigger jackpot.

A The Price Is Right contestant revved up her engine after winning a car during the Showcase. She was only a few hundred dollars short of the actual retail price and shrieked when host Drew Carey told her she won.

Bernice Rumallah, from Irvine, California, won the third item up for bid on June 9. She bid $2,352 on a two-night stay to Kona Kai San Diego, including a limo and city tour. Rumullah then played Rat Race for the chance to win Meyer Housewares, Helen Ficalora jewelry and/or the black 2026 Honda Civic.

The game show contestant won the car and moved on to spin the wheel. She spun an 85, so she advanced to the Showcase.

Melissa Gordon won the sixth item up for bid. She bid $501 on a 65-inch 4k TV, which was actually $600. Gordon went on to play Coverup for a red Nissan Sentra SV. She did not win the car, but had another chance to win after spinning a 90 on the wheel.

Her Showcase featured a SMEG coffeemaker and 13 coffee deliveries, a Beachcomber 320 LEEP, and a Hyundai Elantra. Gordon bid $33,275.

Rumullah bid $43,000 on a padded rocking chair, a trip to the Stay at Queenstown, and a Volkswagen Taos. The actual retail price was $38,975, so she was over and did not win. She groaned when Carey told her she was over.

Gordon closed her eyes and breathed heavily as the host read off her price, which was $33,368. This made her $363 under. The game show contestant screamed wildly before running over to her car. Even though she lost, kind-hearted Rumullah clapped and nodded her head at Gordon’s win, offering her support.

Host Drew Carey said if she was within $250, she would have won a Double Showcase. Gordon took home $34,238 in prizes. “Wow! You just missed a double showcase, but a great bid,” he said. “Nice job!”

Gordon’s win was posted to Instagram on July 20. “This one had us sweating. A great bid nonetheless,” the post was captioned.

The contestant commented, “Nerve-wracking but sooooo fun!”

“Wow! What a bid!” a fan said.

“Amazing!” another commented.
