Geordie fitness instructor Joe had viewers at home howling with laughter over the gaffe
THE Chase viewers were left gobsmacked today, over one contestant’s guess at where the Queen buys her underwear.
Cheeky chappy Joe told a shocked Bradley Walsh that he thinks Her Majesty shops in racy shop Ann Summers.
The 24-year-old fitness instructor, from Newcastle, was answering the question: “What does the company Rigby and Peller make for the Queen?” when he made the gaffe.
Asked why he answered ‘hats’ by the host, Joe said: “Yeah I can’t see it being underwear. She probably goes to Ann Summers or something for that.”
And, when Bradley asked: “The Queen goes to Ann Summers?” he took it one step further – by saying: “I like to think so”, sending the audience into fits of giggles.
Quick-witted Bradley replied: “I don’t think she does Joe. She’ll send someone for her. Correct answer is underwear.”
The Geordie lad was up against Chaser Mark Labbett, aka The Beast, who got the question right.
And viewers couldn’t believe the words that came out of Joe’s mouth.
Twitter user Stacey wrote: “can’t believe someone on the chase just said the queen goes to ann summers for her underwear i’m howling”.
While Simon Alcock joked: “Good grief… off with his head”.
It was a rude show all round, with Joe’s team mate Roger being asked: “In what industry does a boner work? Baking, brewing or butchery?”
Not put off by the question, he replied: “My wife bakes and I’ve never heard her talking about boners in that context, so I’m going for butchery.”
