A TRICKY sequence question could put you in the top one per cent of the country – if you get it right.

The tough bit of trivia was revealed during a recent instalment of ITV game show The 1% Club – which was given to the the night’s finalists, as they battled it out for the jackpot.

The episode, which aired earlier this week, saw players whittled down to just three, as all remaining competitors chose to battle it out to the end for a huge ÂŁ96,000 cash prize.

And the remaining players – Paul, Cameron and Tamzin – were made to work hard for it, with a very hard sequence question to finish off the programme.

Show host Lee Mack asked players: “What are the next two letters in this sequence?”

The letters visible to players and viewers were T-N-E-C-R-E-P-E, with the remaining two characters in the sequence left empty.

They were given 30 seconds to crack the code to challenge for the life-changing sum of money.

And as the clock ran down to zero, Lee asked the players what their locked-in answers were.

Cameron revealed his answer was N-T, with Tamzin picking N-O, and Paul going for T-E.

The players’ variation in answers left the window wide open for either of the trio to claim the full top prize.

The correct answer was tough to come by, but made complete sense after it was explained.

In a tense answer reveal, Lee told the studio audience: “The correct answer is N-O.”

And unlocking the brain-teasing riddle, he admitted that the sequence was actually “one per cent spelt backwards”.

Only one contestant managed to clock the crafty trivia question – which was Tamzin.

And as the only player to provide the correct answer, she walked away with the entire ÂŁ96,000 jackpot.

The night’s big winner looked astonished as she bagged the five-figure sum in front of the show’s live audience.

Speaking after her victory, she told viewers that she managed to crack the code around 10 seconds into the half-a-minute cut off.

And along with the prize pot, her quick thinking earned her the rare boast of being part of the 1% Club.

It comes as a festive-themed 80% question knocked out almost a quarter of players during the show’s Christmas special.

Revealing the picture question, Lee asked: “What is the only item which does NOT appear in both images?”

The contestants were then shown two images side by side of santa, a snowman, a reindeer sitting at a dinner table with a log fire behind them and snow falling outside the window.

After 30 seconds, the contestants had to lock in their answer, before Lee revealed how many had got it wrong.

As 28 appeared on the floor of the studio, a visibly surprised Lee addressed the mass exit.

He said: “Wow. We’ve lost 28 on that one, let’s have a look at the answer.”

The screen then revealed the correct answer was that Santa’s legs were missing on the image on the right.

Lee then asked players what went wrong, and one replied that he “couldn’t see anything wrong with it.”

The result meant the prize pot was boosted to ÂŁ29,000 at a very early stage in the episode.
