THIS is the terrifying moment a car ploughs into a crowd of Mexican fans celebrating their World Cup win overnight.
At least 17 people were injured in the horror street ramming after jubilant supporters filled the streets of Cabo San Lucas and blocked off traffic.
Raul Jimenez’s Mexico side defeated Czech Republic 3-0 to ensure they qualified top of the group and sailed through to the round of 32.
Dozens of people wearing Mexico’s famous green kit gathered to celebrate the win at their home tournament before the joyous scenes turned to chaos.
As fans flooded onto the streets in unison at around 9.45pm local time, several cars were completely blocked off on Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard in Baja California Sur.
Footage shows some supporters gathering around a black car in the middle of the road and appearing to press up against the front bonnet and windows.
The driver quickly accelerated forwards and smashed into revellers before attempting to speed away, according to local reports.
After making it only a few feet, the car veered left and crashed as the fans rushed towards the driver.
They were reportedly arrested shortly after the ordeal while still at the scene.
The region’s public safety, fire department and civil protection units rushed to the scene and closed off the area.
Injured fans were taken to nearby hospitals with no updates on their conditions.
The general secretary of the Los Cabos City Council, Alberto Rentería Santana, confirmed investigations are ongoing.
